Plastic bags pollution endangering planet and marine life in oceans #94180224
Description

A brave woman in a crazy but thought provoking fancy dress costume made out of single use grocery shopping plastic bags is promoting awareness at a state fair for playing our part in saving our environment and animals of our planet and marine life of the oceans by refusing single use plastic grocery bags, take out away and similar and changing to only use reusable low cost cheap cloth bags made of cotton, jute or similar. The young lady is also selling the cloth bags at low price and promoting recycling plastic of all types. A single use plastic bag will take 10 to 20 years to decompose in the ocean, but 400 to 1000 years to decompose and degrade in landfill. Approximately 8 million tons plastic polllution is dumped in our oceans every year. In the most polluted places in the ocean, the mass of plastic is more than 6 times the mass of plankton. The Hawksbill and Green Sea turtles often think that plastic bags are jellyfish and ingest them, obstructing them, starving them and finally killing them. The Hawksbill Sea Turtle is on the IUCN critically endangered list and the Green Sea turtle is on the endangered list. These are only two of the many species of sea marine life fish, reptiles and mammals that suffer and die each year from plastic pollution of our oceans.
