The making of traditional earthen pots is almost an extinct practice in the country. For generations, Indian homes were lit up by diyas, or traditional earthen lamps, during Diwali. Potters now complain that customers prefer cheaper Chinese electrical lighting or more pricey products from Market.The diya business has now sharply declined. Chinese lights killing the business of Indian Diya Makers `Diwali has lost its traditional charm as Chinese products have taken over the Indian markets .Potters find themselves virtually out of work, rendering them penniless.
