Ancient Dutch City gate the Oosterpoort in Hoorn #96203607
Description
Netherlands, province North-Holland, region West-Friesland; small city Horn [municipality Drechterland]: on the street the Draafsingel [former moat] there is situated the Oosterpoort, the only remaining gate of the town. The building was built by J. J. Bilhamer late sixteenth, 16th, century. It is a curved archway passage with ornamental facades in Italian-style architecture. The house, gatehouse, on top dates from the beginning of the seventeenth, 17th century. The port is a landmark, cultural heritage site, national monument and tourist attraction. Seen from the city side, near downtown, historic center.
