In the Middle Ages, Zichem & x28;Belgium& x29; was at the border separating the Duchy of Brabant from the county of Loon. To protect this partition, a branch tower was built on the banks of the Demer. At the foot of the tower the walls are more than four meters thick. This giant was not just a noble status symbol, but a real castle tower.
