This work tells the story of the paratrooper John Steele who stayed on the bell tower of the Church of Sainte-Mère-Eglise in Normandy the night before the landing during the Second World War. Having badly landed this one remained to catch wound of a bullet in the foot seeing that around him in the place the fighting rages then tries to unhook with the aid of its knife but alas this one feel. Blocking on the steeple and seeing his allies perished without being able to intervene it decides then to make the dead to avoid being really killed. Two hours later John was detached, cared for and taken prisoner of a German soldier and finally escaped three days later.
