Description
Is a species belonging to the family Irides, is the most common garden variety of the iris barbados. It is a perennial bulbous plant that is considered invasive because of its ease of propagation. It grows on any type of soil. The leaves are basal, linear, between 3 to 10 over 40 cm long and 3 cm wide sword-shaped, glossy and medium green. The inflorescenceôs arise from a terminal stem with leaves at the base and The bare as it approaches the apex. The flowers have three sepals extended and curved outwards, ovate and between 8 and 12 cm long by about 6 wide. petals are three as well, extend erect and bend over the fertile part of the flower. It blooms from spring to summer. There are numerous varieties, such as Iris germanic florentine and cultivates, in a range of colors ranging from white to yellow, red, violet and blue.
