The complex, the Spasskaya cold and Nikolskaya warm Church built in the late 18th century is located on one of the highest points of the ancient Vladimir – Spassky hill, the place where in 1160 -1163. Andrey Bogolyubsky founded his Prince`s court and built a white stone Church of the Saviour Spaso-Preobrazhensky.. Later, it formed Zlatovratski Spassky monastery, which existed until 1764.
