Description

The ruins of the Solar or Great Chamber that was originally built in the late 13th century by William de Valence at Goodrich Castle. This part of the castle was the most private apartments of the Lord and his family. Further rooms were added later in the Middle Ages. The Parliamentary forces slighted the castle during the English Civil War and it finally descended into ruin during the 1640s.
