Title
Scratching grey heron in the Hengforderwaarden, Holland #99297291
Description
To lowering the floodplains north of the city of Deventer new channels will give the IJssel more room to hold high water. So the water flows into the ponds of the Hengforderwaarden. The dynamics of changing water levels has created a valuable natural river habitat with many birds like this grey heron Ardea cinerea, the largest heron in Europe. It has a long neck, a strong, dagger-like bill and long legs.
