Common kingfisher in dutch IJssel landscape #99318849
Description
To lowering the floodplains north of the city of Deventer new channels will give the river IJssel more room to hold high water. So the water flows into the ponds of the Duurse Waarden. The dynamics of changing water levels has created a valuable natural river habitat with many birds like this common kingfisher. The common kingfisher Alcedo atthis also known as the Eurasian kingfisher, and river kingfisher, is a small kingfisher with beautiful colours. In the Netherlands the little kingfisher is fortunately becoming more common.
