Description
Spassky Cathedral, which is the katholikon of Andronikov Monastery, is active Orthodox temple, a monument of the early Moscow architecture of the XV century. It`s one of numerous Russian churches dedicated to the Vernicle Image of the Saviour. Also Spassky Cathedral is the oldest partially preserved Orthodox temple of Moscow outside the Kremlin in Moscow. A famous ancient Russian icon painter Andrei Rublev participated in the implementation of internal painting of the Cathedral. Brick three-story Church of the Archangel Michael in the Moscow Baroque style was built in Andronikov Monastery in 1694 ââ¬â 1739 by the order and the money of Russian tsarina Evdokia Lopukhina wife of Peter I. Currently the Church houses the Museum of ancient art of reverend Andrei Rublev, who was the famous Russian icon painter of XV century.
