Pictured is a portion of the partially buried Roman amphitheater built around the 2nd century. It is located in the Piazza Sant`Oronzo, Lecce, Italy. It was discovered in 1901, and is estimated to seat 25,000 spectators. It was where the public viewed fights among those sentenced to death and wild animals, other types of executions and gladiator fights. It now hosts occasional plays & concerts.
