Description
Ancient Taberna with storage pots in Scavi Ercolano, Campania, Italy. Thermopolia were Take-away places for the citizens. Herculaneum was buried in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Unlike Pompeii, the pyroclastic material which covered the more affluent Herculaneum preserved wooden and other organic-based objects such as roofs, doors, and foods. Now a UNESCO heritage site, around 75% of the town is still buried.
