Description
When William Randolph Hearst saw the Nucleus Hotel on the corner of Market and Third Streets one day in 1890, he realized just how prominent this location was, from ten blocks away. The outdated hotel building was acquired and torn down so a new Hearst building could replace it. in 1898. Due to the earthquake of fire of 1906, that building had in turn, to be replaced, so between 1909-11, this new Hearst building took the place of the old.
