Via dei Fori Imperiali. room dedicated to the urban transformations of the modern Rome on the third floor of Palazzo Braschi today Museum of Rome, Italy. The room 16 is dedicated to the construction of Via dell`Impero through Rome`s ancient imperial remains. It entailed the systematic demolition of over 40,000 square yards of one of the most densely populated areas of Rome obliterating ancient, medieval and Renaissance structures, including five churches. Part of the rooms 16-17-18-19 of the third floor it documents Rome`s urban evolution in the late eighteenths and the early years of nineteenth century ending with the radical transformations imposed by the fascism. They conserve fragments of the buildings survived to the demolitions. Palazzo Braschi was the last palace builded for a nephew of a pope, Pius VII, in 18th century. From 1952 it houses the Museum of Rome that reconstruct the urban changes and conserves important testimonies of building and places lost in time.
