Description
Pictured is an interesting hybrid stone sculpture on the left side of the façade of the Genoa Cathedral. It forms the base of a column and has the body of a lion and a face with almost human features. Also called la Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, it was consecrated in 1118 though construction was not completed until the 17th century. The striped exterior is a landmark feature of Genoa, northern Italy.
