Description
The smoking room of the Casina delle Civette, exceptional example of Roman Liberty style today Museum of Villa Torlonia, Rome, Italy. This light-filled room was fitted out with wicker furniture and used by the prince as a smoking room. The bow window was added in 1910 and contains stained glass decorated with garlands of flowers and ribbons. In the middle of the room are displayed a series of pieces of stained glass with geometrical patterns and biblical themes created by the artist Paolo Paschetta in the twenties for his own house in Rome. The room displays also several preparatory sketches by Paolo Paschetto, who was the son of a Waldensian shepherd and designed the stained glass for the Methodist and Waldensian churches in Rome. Other sketches have floral and other decorative subjects, such as the ââ¬ÅRose and Butterflyââ¬Â , which were preparatory sketches for the stained glass in the ââ¬ÅBalcony of Rosesââ¬Â on the upper floor of the House of the Owls.
