Well salt traditional making process in Nuodeng village, Yunnan, China. #180680722
Description

Nuodeng village still practices 1,000-year-old technique of salt making. Nuodeng village, located in Dali Bai Ethnic Group autonomous prefecture, was once a commercial center along the Ancient Tea Horse Road in western Yunnan province due to its salt industry. However, with the development of sea salt, the well salt of Nuodeng gradually faded out due to its high cost and complex production process. The prosperity of Nuodeng has gone, but the village still retains its traditional craftsmanship and uses it for making hams and pickles, or even artworks. Brine is boiled in a big bowl, and later turned into common salt. The salt production process in Nuodeng village has not been influenced by the industrial civilization and still retains its old traditions.
