Carlo Mioni Trieste 1871- ibid, 1946poem of 1931in which yeshe signed with the stage name `Alma Sperante`. in his poem `Yesterday and today`, he dealsfrom the `Dreams and Memories` collection, he speaks of three female figures: the peasants, the milkmaids and the washerwomen. all these women were originally from countriesaround Trieste, and from these every day they went to work in the city.of particular interest are the first two figures the peasants and the milkmaids,to which the poet refers with dialectal terms of Slavic origin, thus indicating their national belonging. as mario doria explains inLarge dictionary of the Trieste dialect: historical, etymological, phraseological le`Beschize` in Slovenian `kmetice` are Slavic peasants of the Karst17. The dialectal word `mlecherze` in Slovenian `mlekarice` indicates instead the milkmaids
