Title
San Francisco Public Library Chinatown Branch. #230778491
Description
When first opened in 1921, this branch of the San Francisco Public Library was actually the North Beach Branch. In 1958 the name was changed to the Chinatown Branch, and in 2010 the name was changed again, this time in honor of Him Mark Lai, a San Francisco native who was actually trained as a mechanical engineer. Yet with no training in library sciences, he personally dedicated his life to the collecting, preserving and cataloging Chinese American History. As seen September 2021.
