Oscar-winning director Sydney Pollack arrives on the red carpet for the world premiere of his film, 'The Interpreter,' on Opening Night of the 4th Annual Tribeca Film Festival at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on April 19, 2005. Pollack won 2 Oscars for 'Out of Africa,' one for directing and the other for best picture. 'The Interpreter' marked the first time a film had been shot on location at the United Nations headquarters, including the General Assembly, in Manhattan. Pollack was also a producer and actor. He died from cancer at his home in Pacific Palisades, California on May 26, 2008 at the age of 73.
