Description
Pictured is a statue base with a dedication to and low relief of Aulisua, a local diety of fertility & harvest, on display at the Archaeological Site of Volubilis in Morocco. The Roman period was from the 1st century AD to 285 when Volubilis was conquered by local tribes. Today the partially excavated site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed for being an exceptionally well preserved example of a large Roman colonial town on the fringes of the Empire.
