Description
Pictured is polychrome decoration on the East end of the South wall of the 1st chamber TT218, the Tomb of Amennakht in Deir el-Medina, Egypt. Imyway, wife of Amennakht is kneeling behind her husband with her hands raised in adoration. Amennakht was an Ancient Egyptian artisan and was called a Servant in the Place of Truth, as were other artisans who lived in Deir el-Medina and decorated tombs in the Valley of the Kings. His wife was Imyway and they had two sons who were also artisans, Nebenmatt buried with his wife Mertseger in TT219, and Khaemteri buried in TT220. The tombs shared a forecourt and three chapels.
