Description
A passive setting and great views are the signature features of Onondaga County`s newest leisure facility, Otisco Lake Park, which was dedicated in 2000. The 3 acre site includes shoreline commemorative benches, majestic evergreens, and hundreds of feet of great fishing access. Otisco Lake is a 1,877-acre eutrophic lake lying wholly within Onondaga County, near the city of Syracuse. A lake rich in nutrients and so supporting a dense plant population, the decomposition of which kills animal life by depriving it of oxygen. It is the most easterly of the eleven glacial Finger Lakes and is eighth in size. Otisco Lake is especially good for walleye, trout and tiger musky fishing, while bass and panfish are also abundant.
