Alaska Creek Street Ketchikan Looking for Salmon #29000049
Description
A couple men look down over the boardwalk railing along Creek Street trying to catch a glimpse of spawning salmon in the water below. Creek Street, famous as the one time "red light" district of Ketchikan, is now full of craft and gift shops, as well as several restaurants, where dance halls, bars, and houses of ill repute once stood. It also sees several large runs of salmon each summer, a big draw for visitors and locals alike. A popular summer cruise ship port of call, Ketchikan is located at the start of the Inside Passage in southeast Alaska. Known as the "Salmon Capital of the World", tourism, timber harvesting, and fishing, both recreational and commercial, are the cornerstones of the local economy.
