Kinzie Street Railroad Bridge - Chicago #4524213
Description
The Kinzie Street railroad bridge across the north branch of the Chicago River. At the time of its opening in 1908 it was the world's longest and heaviest bascule bridge. After the Chicago Sun-Times moved their printing plant out of the downtown in 2001, the bridge was raised and left in the open position. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on 12 December 2007.
