Pictured is a fresco showing left to right Saint Benedict, Saint Basil the Great and Saint Stephen in the ancient cave church, La Chiesa di San Lorenzo, in the Parco Rupestre Lama D`Antico. The rupestrian settlement of Lama dââ¬â¢Antico is regarded as one of the oldest of the Puglia Region. It was already inhabited in the 10th century AD. Benedict of Nursia was the writer of the Rule of Saint Benedict that inspired most Western monasticism, honored by the Anglican Church and the Catholic Church as the patron saint of Europe and students. Saint Basil the Great he is remembered as a father of communal monasticism in Eastern Christianity. Saint Stephen was venerated as the first Christian matyr. He was stoned to death in Jerusalem in 34 AD. He is a also venerated as a Saint in multiple churches, including Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, and the Church of the East.
