Pictured is a fresco showing Saint Stephen in the ancient cave church, La Chiesa di San Lorenzo, in the Parco Rupestre Lama D`Antico. The rupestrian settlement of Lama d’Antico is regarded as one of the oldest of the Puglia Region. It was already inhabited in the 10th century AD. Saint Stephen was venerated as the first Christian matyr. He was stoned to death in Jerusalem in 34 AD.
