Legendary stand-up comedian Bob Hope, knowing the importance of timing in comedy, pauses for the laughter to subside during a performance in Chicago, Illinois in February, 1982. Hope, born in England, had a nearly 80-year showbiz career as a stand-up comedian, actor, singer, dancer, and even used his considerable athletic abilities as a boxer in his youth, where he fought under the name of `Packy East.` Known for his `ski-slope-shaped nose, and his impeccable comic timing, he waits for the laughter to subside before plunging in with another zinger line. He is know for his tireless years of touring, entertaining American troops abroad for the USO. Hope died on June 27, 2003, at the age of 100.
