Description
Singer, actress, and activist Helen Reddy entertains at ChicagoFest on August 11, 1979. She is perhaps best known for her number one pop hit, which she co-wrote, `I am Woman,` which became a feminist anthem. She earned a 1972 Grammy for the iconic record. Reddy held both American and Australian citizenship and also became a hypnotherapist and motivational speaker. Reddy, who suffered in her later years from Addison`s disease and dementia, died on September 29, 2020, in Los Angeles, California at the age of 78. In an interesting coincidence, Reddy's colleague, singer and songwriter Mac Davis, died a few hours later, in Nashville,Tennessee, also at age 78. Davis appeared on 'The Helen Reddy Show' on tv in 1973 and wrote 'I believe in Music' which appeared on a 1971 Reddy album.
