Helen Reddy At 1979 ChicagoFest Editorial Image

Singer, actress, and activist Helen Reddy entertains at ChicagoFest in August, 1979. She is perhaps best known for her number one pop hit, which she co-wrote, `I Am Woman,` which became an iconic feminist anthem and won her a Grammy in 1972. Reddy held both American and Australian citizenship and also became a hypnotherapist and motivational speaker. Reddy, a breast cancer survivor who suffered in her later years from Addison`s disease and dementia, died on September 29, 2020, in Los Angeles, California at the age of 78. In an interesting coincidence, Reddy`s colleague, singer and songwriter Mac Davis died a few hours later, in Nashville,Tennessee, also at age 78. Davis appeared on `The Helen Reddy Show` on tv in 1973 and wrote `I believe in Music` which appeared on a 1971 Reddy album.
