Description
Renowned American violinist Isaac Stern greets Herbert Friedman, a winner in physics for his pioneering investigations of solar x-rays. He was employed at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. The venue is the Knesset, the Israel Parliament building. The occasion was the Wolf Prize honors ceremony in Jerusalem on May 31, 1987. Stern, the recipient of countless international awards, was a long-time devoted friend of Israel and was considered by many the premier violinist of his era. Stern died on September 22, 2001 at the age of 81. Friedman died a year earlier, on September 9, 2000 at the age of 84.
