Renowned concert violinist Isaac Stern, on left, receives congratulations from Israel President Chaim Herzog, center, and Speaker of the Knesset Shlomo Hillel on the occasion of Stern's earning the Wolf Prize in music. The Wolf Prize is Israel's equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Stern has had a longstanding relationship with Israel dating back to just prior to the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948. The background displays the splendid tapestries of Marc Chagall. Stern died in Manhattan in 2001 at the age of 81. Herzog and Hillel died in Israel in 1997 and 2021 at ages 78 and 97 respectively.
