San Francisco has seen many building booms over the course of its history. One was in early 20th Century. One person who took advantage of such a boom was James Hjul, a structural engineer who mainly built industrial buildings in the South of Market area, but he also built an apartment building at 225 Fell Street with such modern amenities as an ice box, and a Murphy bed.
