Description
Pictured is a Dia de los Muertos mural by Sally Ramirez in an alley by the building of Living Arts of Tulsa, Oklahoma. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull, or in Spanish, the calavera. The Mexican illustrator Jose Guadalupe Posada created a style of calaveras in which costumed figures would be given a skeleton face. The marigolds seen in the mural are the traditional flower used to honor the dead.
