Pictured is a bronze plaque honoring the 97th Birthday of Judge John Nance Garner on November 22, 1965. presented by the City of Uvalde, Texas. The plaque is on an outside wall of the John Nance Garner Home which the former Vice-President and his son Tully donated to the City of Uvalde in 1952. Garner was born November 22, 1968 and died November 7, 1967. He was an American Democratic politician and lawyer known among his contemporaries as Cactus Jack. He had a long career as a statesman and served as speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1931 to 1933 and as 32nd vice president of the United States under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1941.
