Description
Pictured is a Dia de los Muertos mural by Tulsa artist Charles Caleb Burgess in an alley by the building of Living Arts of Tulsa, Oklahoma. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull, or in Spanish, the calavera. Mexican illustrator Jose Guadalupe Posada had a style where he used costumed figures with skeleton faces as seen in this mural. The message on the mural is `Peace Begins With a Smile`. The marigolds are the traditional flower used to honor the dead and a purple colored marigold is in the bottom left corner. Red Beard Studios is the creative space of Tulsa artist Charles Caleb Burgess.
